Here are reviews of various vendors of both new and second hand records. The list is compiled from the experiences of people on the list. If you have had good or bad experiences of buying records for your jukebox, have a more recent review of one of the vendors, or feel that any of the reviews are unfair then please let us know so that we can share this information.

Music On The Web
http://www.musiconthe web.co.uk

A UK site which I found slow to load the alphabetical listings requested. Good choice of records from oldies to modern groups (e.g. Oasis, Blur) - quite a few obscure titles by well known artists. Not particularly cheap - nothing under £2 , most up in the £4/5 range. Postage in UK is £1.20 for Ist record and 30p after that to maximum of £5. The records are, however, sent recorded delivery.

Perhaps a site more for the record collector than the jukebox owner.

Runicorn Records
Unit R, Birch House
Birch Walk
Erith
Kent DA8 1QX

A business based in Kent which has no Web site or Email facility. You order from a catalogue which is sent to you for 50p (refundable on first order). Updated catalogues are sent free of charge. Good selection of records with the jukebox owner in mind, mainly oldies from the 50’s and 60’s with the Collectable label featuring quite strongly. Nearly all the records are priced at £2.50. Postage is very reasonable at 35p for Ist disc and 12p each thereafter.

One complaint I had about the condition of a record was dealt with swiftly and a full refund was given. What a shame it’s not on the Web.

Fast Hits Music
http://www.fasthits.com

This is an American site which I have used for 45's for a couple of years now and found them very good. The records are all re-issues of both oldies and recent. They are cheaper than you would find over here and I keep the orders small so that they don't attract customs attention and duty. I must say though of late the business has been handed over to the brother to run and he is not so hot on keeping the site up to date or producing the radio show or the weekly email update.

If you see this guy's advert (e.g. in Jukebox Collector) don't bother! He doesn't ship outside the USA.

Moira’s Juke Box Records
Moira Hilton
7 King George Ave
Droitwich Spa
Worcestershire
WR9 7BP
http://www.droitwichcalling.co.uk/records/

Free (photocopied) catalogue available upon request, but, more conveniently, also downloadable from her website in .csv format. Carries a selection of second-hand 7" singles, mainly 70's and 80's hits, but stock varies. Everything I have ordered from her has been delivered promptly and in good condition (she even dinked some of them for me). She tends to know the value of records, so rare/very popular ones are priced higher, however they are generally reasonably priced ranging from 50p to £4+. Postage is free for orders over £10 and she offers a 7 day quibble money back service (which I have been fortunate enough to not try out).

Arrow Distribution
http://www.arrdis.com

This is an American site where you cannot browse the records available. You have to enter details of artist etc in search boxes. (Both my tries were unsuccessful). There were no details of prices . When I tried to find out details of on-line ordering I was confronted by a page which wanted my password!

Not much to recommend it really.

Lieberman Music
http://www.liebermanmusic.com

An American site which is a bit confusing to use. It sells items other than 45’s but the icon for 45’s doesn’t appear on the page (click where you think it should be). It has a fairly small catalogue of modern music , presumably all new records. I could not find out the price of the records or how to order.

Might be worth pursuing them via Email if they have a record you desperately want.

Vinyl Resting Place
http://www.vinylrestingplace.com

This is a Canadian site run by a friendly guy called Ted Wendland. The records are nicely categorised (there’s even one for Canadian artists) and a good selection at very reasonable prices. Postage is cheap for larger quantities. Wants lists welcome. Certainly worth checking out.

Vinyl 4 Ever
http://www.vinyl4ever.com

This is an American site. The owner (Keith White) also auctions quite a lot of records on Ebay so you may come across him that way as well. Although he stocks 3000 different titles not all are listed. All the records are new at a set price of $4.25. There are some very recent ones (just out of the charts) as well as re-issues. The site also accepts ‘wants’ lists.
